Recently, we have been reading and analyzing short stories in my English class. I know you're thinking that reading short stories sounds boring and difficult. But remember, I love reading. Obviously, I liked reading the short stories...I don't feel as strongly about analyzing the short stories, though. Speaking of analyzing short stories, I analyzed "A Perfect Day for Bananafish" (PDFB) by J.D. Salinger . I absolutely love that story. It is weird and strange and wonderful and dark and just perfect with a touch of death. You can read it here, tell me what you think in the comments.

Of all the short stories I read, I would have to say that "PDFB" was my favorite. I loved that I had to think a bit about the story to fully understand, that made me want to analyze it. Another story I liked was called "The Veldt" by Ray Bradbury. It also had death and was slightly dark. However, the technology in the story was awesome. I think like my stories to be a little darker, being dark makes them interesting.

I think that my favorite character out all the short stories we read in class was a scientist with no name. :'(. I'll just call him...Bob. So anyway Bob is from "He-y, Come on Ou-t!" by Shinichi Hoshi. I love Bob because he is only in the story for a couple of lines. Those lines say "In his own mind the scientist was at a loss, but with a look of apparent composure…in a manner suggesting that the whole thing had a perfectly plausible explanation said, "Fill it in." I think that is hilarious, if (read:when) you read the story you'll understand why. To afford spoilers, I'll just tell you that Bob was meant to scientifically analyze something very important. He tries and fails. LOL. And then after that, he lies to everyone. Come on man.

While on the topic of "He-y, Come on Ou-t!", I would like to share with you, my favorite quote from all the short stories. It's from "He-y, Come on Ou-t!", "Everyone disliked thinking of the eventual consequences." All I could think while reading that was 'Same'. You guys have to read that story.
